Banyak anggapan bahwa membaca pikiran adalah pekerjaan seorang psikolog, paranormal atau bahkan dukun. Namun, percaya atau tidak, dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, anda semua adalah seorang pembaca pikiran. Sebab, tanpa kemampuan untuk mengetahui pikiran serta perasaan orang lain, kita semua tak akan mampu menghadapi situasi sosial semudah apapun. Dengan membaca pikiran, kita dapat membuat perkiraan tentang tingkah laku seseorang lalu membuat kita dapat menentukan keputusan berikutnya. Jika kita melakukan pembacaan ini dengan buruk, dampaknya bisa serius: konflik bisa saja terjadi akibat kesalahpahaman. Contoh yang nyata kesulitan mengenali pikiran dan perasaan orang lain—mindblindness, dapat dilihat pada penyandang autisme, dimana ketidakmampuan tersebut menjadi suatu kondisi yang mengganggu.
Kemampuan membaca pikiran ini, yang oleh William Ickes—profesor psikologi di University of Texas, disebut sebagai emphatic accuracy.
Darimana asalnya?
Kemampuan (terbatas) kita untuk membaca pikiran menurut Ross Buck–profesor Communication Sciences di University of Connecticut, memiliki sejarah yang amat panjang. Dikatakannya bahwa, melalui jutaan tahun evolusi, sistem komunikasi manusia berkembang menjadi lebih rumit saat kehidupan juga menjadi lebih kompleks. Membaca pikiran lantas menjadi alat untuk menciptakan dan menjaga keteraturan sosial; seperti membantu mengetahui kapan harus menyetujui sebuah komitmen dengan pasangan atau melerai perselisihan dengan tetangga.
Kemampuan ini sendiri muncul sejak manusia dilahirkan. Bayi yang baru lahir lebih menyukai wajah seseorang dibandingkan stimulus lainnya, dan bayi berusia beberapa minggu sudah mampu menirukan ekspresi wajah. Dalam 2 bulan, bayi sudah dapat memahami dan berespon terhadap keadaan emosional dari pengasuhnya. Nancy Eisenberg, profesor psikologi di Arizona State University dan ahli dalam perkembangan emosional, menuturkan bahwa bayi berusia 1 tahun mampu mengamati ekspresi orang dewasa dan menggunakannya untuk menentukan tingkah laku berikutnya. Lanjutnya, bayi usia 2 tahun mampu menyimpulkan keinginan orang lain dari tatapan matanya, dan di usia 3 tahun, bayi dapat mengenali ekspresi wajah gembira, sedih atau marah. Saat menginjak usia 5 tahun, bayi sudah memiliki kemampuan dasar untuk membaca pikiran orang lain; mereka telah memiliki “teori pikiran.” Bayi tersebut mampu memahami bahwa orang lain memiliki pemikiran, perasaan dan kepercayaan yang berbeda dengan yang mereka miliki.
Anak-anak tadi mengembangkan kemampuan membaca pikiran dengan mengamati pembicaraan orang dewasa, dimana mereka membedakan kompleksitas aturan dan interaksi sosial. Selain itu, kegiatan bermain dengan teman sebaya juga dapat melatih anak untuk membaca pikiran anak lainnya. Namun, tak semua anak bisa mengembangkan kemampuan ini. Anak-anak yang mengalami penelantaran dan kekerasan cenderung mengalami hambatan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan membaca pikiran ini. Sebagai contoh, anak yang dibesarkan dalam keluarga yang penuh dengan kekerasan, mungkin akan jauh lebih peka terhadap ekspresi marah, walaupun sesungguhnya emosi marah tidak muncul.
Lanjut lagi, kemampuan membaca pikiran yang lebih maju biasa muncul pada masa remaja akhir. Hal ini terjadi karena kemampuan untuk menyimpan perspektif dari beberapa orang di saat yang sama—dan lalu mengintegrasikannya dengan pengetahuan kita dan orang yang bersangkutan itu—seringkali membutuhkan kemampuan otak yang sudah jauh berkembang.
Bagaimana Membaca Pikiran?
Membaca bahasa tubuh adalah komponen inti dari membaca pikiran. Lewat bahasa tubuh, kita bisa mengetahui emosi dasar seseorang. Peneliti menemukan bahwa ketika seseorang mengamati gerak tubuh orang lain, mereka dapat mengenali emosi sedih, marah, gembira, takut dll, bahkan ketika pengamatan hanya dilakukan dengan pencahayaan yang minim.
Ekspresi wajah juga merupakan penanda bagi kita untuk dapat mengetahui apa yang dipikirkan orang lain. Namun sayangnya, banyak dari kita yang tidak mampu untuk mendeteksi ekpresi ini. Salah satu sumber yang kaya akan penanda ini adalah mata seseorang; otot-otot di sekitar mata. Mata seseorang adalah sumber penanda yang paling kaya jika dibandingkan bagian lain yang ada di wajah. Contohnya: mata yang turun ketika sedih, terbuka lebar ketika takut, terlihat tidak fokus kala sedang berkhayal, menatap tajam penuh kecemburuan, atau menatap sekitarnya ketika tidak sabar.
Kita dapat semakin tahu pikiran orang lain dari komponen-komponen dalam percakapan—kata-kata, gerak tubuh, dan nada suara. Namun diantara ketiganya, Ickes menemukan bahwa isi pembicaraan menjadi komponen terpenting dalam membaca pikiran dengan baik.
Menjadi Pembaca Pikiran Ulung
Lalu, bagaimana kita bisa menjadi seorang pembaca pikiran yang lebih baik? Tim dari Psychology Today telah merumuskan beberapa hal yang bisa membantu kita membaca pikiran.
Kenalilah orang lain. “Kemampuan membaca pikiran akan meningkat, semakin kita mengenal lawan bicara kita,” kata William Ickes. Jika kita berinteraksi dengan seseorang selama kurang lebih sebulan, kita akan lebih mudah untuk mengenali apa yang ia pikirkan dan rasakan. Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena: kita mampu mengartikan kata-kata dan tidakan orang lain dengan lebih tepat, setelah mengamatinya dalam berbagai situasi; kedua, kita mengetahui apa yang terjadi dalam hidup mereka, dan mampu menggunakan pengetahuan itu untuk memahami mereka dalam konteks yang lebih luas.
Minta umpan balik. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kita dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dengan cara menanyakan kebenaran dari tebakan kita. Misalnya, “Saya mendengar, sepertinya Engkau sedang marah. Benar tidak?”
Perhatikan bagian atas dari wajah. Emosi yang palsu, biasanya diungkapkan pada bagian bawah wajah seseorang. Sedangkan, menurut Calin Prodan—profesor neurologi di University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, emosi utama bisa dilihat dari sebagian ke atas wajah, biasanya di sekitar mata.
Lebih ekspresif. Ekspresivitas emosi cenderung timbal balik. Ross Buck, “semakin kita ekspresif, semakin banyak pula kita akan mendapat informasi mengenai kondisi emosional dari orang lain di sekitar kita.”

Santai. Menurut Lavinia Plonka, pengarang Walking Your Talk, seseorang cenderung “menyamakan diri” dengan lawan bicaranya melalui postur tubuh dan pola napas. Jika anda merasa tegang, teman bicara anda bisa saja, secara tak sadar, menjadi tegang pula lalu terhambat, dan akhirnya menjadi sulit untuk dibaca. Ambillah napas panjang, senyumlah, dan coba untuk menampilkan keterbukaan dan penerimaan kepada siapapun yang bersama anda.
Tinjauan Kritis
Perlu kita ingat, bahwa ekspresi emosi bisa berbeda di berbagai budaya. Ekspresi sedih di satu budaya, bisa jadi diinterpretasikan sebagai emosi lain di budaya lain. Jadi jika ingin membaca seseorang, kita perlu memperhatikan pula unsur budaya yang berlaku di tempat tinggal orang itu, jangan sampai salah menebak, atau bahkan memicu terjadinya kesalahpahaman.
Kita juga tak bisa mengesampingkan fenomena membaca pikiran ini sebagai sebuah fenomena yang biasa diasosisasikan dengan kemampuan supranatural, sebab percaya tidak percaya, memang ada orang-orang yang memiliki kemampuan untuk membaca pikiran yang sulit dijelaskan ilmu pengetahuan. Setidaknya penulis telah menemukan beberapa orang dengan kemampuan membaca pikiran, yang bahkan mampu melihat masa depan dan berbagai macam hal yang sulit diterima nalar.

i just had a mid test for a week and absolutely i cant post something new in here... now, i will take a break of my school for a week, because the 12th grade are do final test.
i wanna share my fear about my report card.
today my mom will take my report card, oh god, this is my first time that i am afraid of my report card.

i think my report card not very well this time. it can be happen because all the lesson are have many parts, but we only have a  minim time. its not fair. maybe there are people can understand just in the first explain, but i am not like that and maybe many of my friends have a some problem with me.

i am too afraid especially for my physic huuuh -_-"

but i am promise that i will more study hard to get science class. yeah i will!

then, we use mrt to get there. after arriving in station, we are connecting our journey by bus that only take us to NTU. and then we are going to NUS.
after the whole journey to the university, we are going to the sentosa island... :)
the newest is universal studio. casino. and many more

we watching 'the song of the sea'. it really awesome. they can make a laser that combine with water to be a real character. COOL!

then we go home and sleep...

okay okay this is the story....

today, 5 feb 2010
jakarta

mom : come on honey, you must to get up now. we gotta go to singapore..
me : uuh mommy, i still sleepy now.. hoam
mom : no reason. get up now or we will be left for our flight and you can go there and you just stack in here and you.....
me : okay okay mom. i am awake now..

30 minutes later

mom : you ready?
me : yeah

we are on the way to airport. then we checking in for the flight seat. then we enter the immigration. then we are waiting in the boarding room.

me : haha *while tweeting on twitter*
mom : why are you laughing honey?
me : my friends asked me about why i am not in school, mom
mom : oh. did they dont know about our trip?
me : no
mom : so why are you told them about it? *rather mad*
me : just relax mom, they can keep it this from my teacher

1 hour later

*attention please. passenger who get flight to singapore, please entering the plane*

mom : come on!
me : okay

1 hour later on the plane

*fasten you seatbelt, we will arriving in a few times*

me : wow mom, we're in singapore ihiiy
mom : yeah

and then we entering immigration of singapore and take it back our baggage.

mom : where is aunt catrin?
me : i dont know
mom : oh my god, where is she? oh no we're lost
me : relax mom, we can go to the aunt catrin's place, right?
mom : oh ya? how can?
me : just follow the sign mom...

a few minutes later with my brilliant eyes, i found my aunty was walking to approaching us..

me: mom! that is aunty!
mom : oh yeah!

and then we are going to aunty place to put our bags, then we are starting our real trip in singapore...
